Minis rugby is a fantastic and fun activity for U6 to U12 year olds. North Dorset RFC has a thriving Minis section, with over 200 children charging around the Slaughtergate fields on a Sunday morning.

The Mini section plays ‘Age Grade Rugby’ as outlined by the RFU’s Regulation 15. The emphasis is always about fun and introduces contact rugby at the appropriate time to enable all our children to participate in the sport in a safe, fun and encouraging manner.

We are a club focused on developing a community spirt, which is not just about winning. We put out equal capability teams, normally two or three in each age group, so we can secure the Club’s success in the longer term.

We want to develop players and volunteers who are loyal to our club over a lifetime and that can often mean starting as a rugby mini player.

Players can begin training at 5 years old, but will not be able to play for the club in a match against other clubs until they are in the U7’s (school year 2). This is an RFU stipulation.

When at home our sessions start at around 10.00am every Sunday morning during the season, that lasts from the first Sunday in September until the final Sunday in April.

We have a healthy fixture list, with games against clubs all over Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset.

Each year we have a family rugby tour, usually in Devon from Friday to Sunday, as well as a Minis Rugby festival in April, with several local rugby clubs joining in.

Please come and join us on a Sunday morning and give minis rugby a try, we’re always delighted to welcome new players and members.

Minis membership is £70 per season, with a free associate membership for accompanying adults.
