On Friday evening in a 12 try bonanza, North Dorset 2nd XV entertained Swanage & Wareham 3rds under lights. The visitors arrived a man down, but North Dorset loaned them a player to even up the match. Swans started strongly but determined home defence kept them out until 20 minutes into the game when they scored an unconverted try in the corner. They were now on a roll and moved the ball through backs and forwards from one side of the pitch to the other and scored great converted try bringing the score to 0 - 12. This was swiftly followed by a breakaway down the wing resulting in another unconverted try 0 -17. This woke N Dorset up and they replied with an unconverted try of their own 5 - 17. The Home side were now in full flight and scored another try under the posts 12 - 17. With half time looming they continued to press Swans defence but were held up over the line. Not to be deterred sustained pressure resulted in an unconverted try in the last play of the half.
Half time score 17 all.
The second half began with both teams scoring unconverted tries followed by a converted try from N. Dorset bringing the score to 29 - 22. Then guess what, Swans retaliated with an unconverted try 29 -27. Not to be outdone N. Dorset scored again making it 36 - 27 Swans however did not give up and were rewarded with the last score of the game. It was a very exciting game of end to end Rugby in difficult weather conditions played with good humour throughout and watched by a large crowd of spectators despite the wind and rain.
