Salisbury RFC
North Dorset RFC

North Dorset U16s travelled to Salisbury on Sunday to compete in the Dorset & Wilts plate competition. It was a very keenly contested opening few minutes with both sets of forwards not wanting to take a backward step. It was Salisbury who managed to break the deadlock when the resilient North Dorset defence was finally broken down. It wasn’t long before North Dorset found some rhythm on the undulating pitch and struck back with a converted try of their own. It looked as if North Dorset would soon strike again however, on a few occasions the final pass just wouldn’t stick and the game swung Salisbury’s way when they managed to cross the line making the half time score 12-7.
With little between the sides at half time, the next score was vital. It was Salisbury who capitalised when they took 3 points with a penalty kick in front of the posts. It was during this purple patch that they went on to score another penalty and two tries. North Dorset were by no means out of it and they rallied to score two second half tries of their own. The final score was 30-17.
