ND Badgers v Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew Badgers

The Badgers travelled down to Wheatsheaf on a very wet and windy day. The badgers took to the field in high spirits, wanting to keep the momentum high from last week’s win over Melksham 2nds.In these conditions, ND Badgers knew it would be a tough day and playing against a team called themselves the badgers, and there was more on the line than just the win. ND Badgers wanted to lay down that they’re the only Badgers in this shire.  The referee blew his whistle, and the game was underway. A turbulent start to the match, with nothing of interest happening. It just looked like a cete of Badgers playing around in the wet until Wheatsheaf burst into life and scored a sneaky five-pointer with a run down the line. First blood is drawn to them,  game on, or so I thought. However, the first half played through with no effect, more Badgers enjoying the rain and mud.

Second half, here we go! Sam Vincent,  big Vinny coming on, and Robbie Sampson switching to 9 from hooker to shake the game up and that they did. Robbie bossed the forwards and got the boys going, winning lineout battles and dominating scrums. Sam Vincent was showing what he could do by scoring a lovely try. Followed up with an intelligent conversion by Robbie put the ND Badgers ahead by 1 point. ND Badgers were now on the move in the right direction, phase after phase. They made ground and opened up pockets for a lovely little push over the line for a Zachery Pearce try. Conversion pushed wide, obviously down to the wind. ND Badgers set again and pushed on, Gary Smith being sin-binned for a slight infringement to the opposition. ND Badgers were now pinned back, but in true badger grit and determination, the ND badgers fought on more phase play and domination. Sam Vincent went over the line to add another try. ND Badgers now had the upper hand to see the game out to finish it 8-17 to ND Badgers.
