The 1st 15 minutes of this match were a sparring contest between the two teams, with Weymouth emerging stronger and breaking the deadlock with a penalty 3 - 0. This was swiftly followed by a try 8 - 0 and on to a good back`s move with a kick ahead bouncing off the corner post into the arms of the winger who scored in the corner, duly converted 15 - 0. This spurred North on to a period of prolonged pressure on the Weymouth line after a kick ahead, and Jake Cannings scored a good try in the corner - unconverted 15 - 5. This lifted N. Dorset, and they applied more pressure with the forwards bombarding the Weymouth line until Will Willoughby crashed over for a converted try 15 - 12. Shortly after this, Weymouth received a yellow card, and N. Dorset took full advantage of this with Luke Biggs, pushed by half the pack, crossing the line 15 - 17. Half Time score.
The 2nd half began with Adam Trevis scoring a try converted by Sam Jones 15 - 24., countered with a Weymouth penalty 18 - 24. After a considerable effort from the pack, Adam Trevis scored again - not converted - 18 - 29. At this point, Weymouth upped their game and scored in the corner 23 - 29 and, for the remainder of the game, put North Dorset under extreme pressure on their line but were unable to capitalise. Nevertheless, North Dorset held on to win by means of a tremendous defensive effort.
Final score 23 - 29. and a big sigh of relief from the large travelling supporters group.
