Salisbury RFC

14 - 62

(HT 0-0)

North Dorset RFC

On Saturday, North Dorset Men's 1st XV travelled to play Salisbury II.  They were slow off the mark, and Salisbury opened the scoring with a penalty  3 - 0, causing North Dorset to get their act together and score a try through Brandon Ward after a strong drive by the forwards  3  -  5.  Salisbury rallied with another penalty  6  -  5 . North Dorset really upped their game with Dave Stickland scoring  6  -  10, swiftly followed by Tom Spinney crossing the line  6  -  15 and winger Tom Rose scoring in the corner  6  -  20. Salisbury added another penalty  9  -  20, followed by a try 14  - 20.  The reply from Dorset was a converted try by Wing Jake Cannings and a second try from Tom Spinney, bringing the halftime score to 14  -  34.

By this time, it was apparent Salisbury couldn't handle the Dorset pack and the halftime introduction of two fresh props, Joe Atkins and Eric Munezero, only compounded their problems. The second half began with tries from Luke Biggs, Tom Spinney and Adam Trevis 14  -  55, eventually sparking a sustained period of pressure from Salisbury. Still, they were held at bay by good defence from N. Dorset and got no reward.  North Dorset supporters were then treated to a classic moment, with Marcus Randall dotting the ball down over the line for the game's final score  14  -  62. The ever-growing bank of travelling supporters were treated to a try fest but to give Salisbury due credit, and they fought hard to the final whistle.  Grichie Brewing company POTM was the legend who is Sean Perry.
