Bridport vs North Dorset Men
North Dorset travelled to Bridport for Saturday's match, which began in torrential rain.
Dorset attacked from the kick-off and were awarded a scrum 5 metres from the Bridport line, which resulted in a pushover try scored by Charlie Jobling and converted by Sam Jones 0-7. The rest of the 1st half flowed back and forth, the ball like a bar of soap and the ground like a skid patch, with both sides unable to score.
The coach's half-time chat must have been inspiring, coupled with a break in the rain, and Dorset scored 3 Tries in quick succession (one from Adam Trevis and two from Robbie Sampson), all converted by Sam Jones 0-28. This rallied Bridport, and they put pressure on Dorset's line but were held out by solid defence. As the rain made an unwelcome return, Dorset finally broke out of their half, allowing Tom Ashfield to score in the corner, but Sam Jones could not convert.
The final score was 0-33. An excellent result in atrocious conditions. The Home crowd were in good humour and very hospitable and joined in the applause for the Dorset Coaches display of mud sliding.
