On Saturday 22nd January, North Dorset travelled to play Wimborne 2, and their supporters were delighted to see them take the field in a new away game shirt. North Dorset started the match with a flurry, Tom Ashfield scoring the first try, converted by Sam Jones, soon after kick-off 0-7, followed by another from Matt Piper, unconverted. 0-12.
Wimborne mounted a series of promising attacks on North Dorset's line but were repelled by a stubborn defence. North's reply was to score 2unconverted tries from Tom Chilvers and Marcus Randall 0-22, followed by Will Johnson running in a try converted by Robbie Sampson 0-29. The first half was rounded off by Joe Atkins scoring a fine try, unconverted, bringing the halftime score to 0-34.
The second half began similarly to the first, with Charlie Jobling and Simon Drake scoring unconverted tries 0-44.
The game then lost all shape and became a comedy of errors until Wimborne put together a good series of moves resulting in a converted try 7-44. This had the effect of waking Dorset up, and they reverted to their game plan, meaning that Joe Atkins scored an unconverted try 7-49, swiftly followed by Matt Piper scoring and Sam Jones converting 7-56.
The game's final move saw Sam Trevis running in a good try - again not converted- 7-61, final score. Once again, the large band of travelling supporters were delighted to watch a good game of Rugby because Wimborne never gave up and made North Dorset work hard for their 11 tries.
