On Saturday 19th March, North Dorset travelled to play a strong Bournemouth 3. Dorset attacked the Bournemouth line from the kick-off and, for 10 minutes, were thwarted until the home side transgressed twice and Sam Jones converted the ensuing penalties, despite the very difficult wind 0-6. North Dorset stayed in the attacking mode and finally
Henry Barron, helped by most of the pack, scored which Sam Jones convertedĀ 0-13. This sparked Bournemouth into action and after a sustained period of pressure, they scored out wide but failed to convert 5-13. Dorset upped their game at this, and Jay Westcar ran in an unconverted try to bring the halftime score to 5-18. The 2nd half began with North Dorset again in control and Marcus Randall breaking
through the middle of the Bournemouth defence to score an unconverted try 5-23. The game proceeded to flow end to end until Bournemouth scored an interception try from the halfway line but were forced into the corner by the determined Dorset defence 10-23. This invigorated the Bournemouth team but they were held out by stout Dorset defence. Bournemouth tired towards the final whistle enabling Matt Piper to run in an unconverted try 10-28. From the restart Captain Adam Trevis
ran through the Bournemouth defence to score under the posts, which was converted by Sam Jones immediately before the final whistle. This win cements North Dorset`s position at the top of the table, and with only two matches to go, in an unassailable position.
