NDRFC WOMEN VS CHRISTCHURCH WOMEN
“Not even the rain can stop these women”
ND Women travelled down to Christchurch with 21 players including 4 newbies Emma Stone, Elizabeth “Betty” Duncan, Natalie Christopher and Emma Saylor. Arriving at the ground we were introduced to rain, gale-force winds and a very muddy pitch!
This didn’t phase our ladies at all, started off a bit slowly after getting used to playing in awful conditions but after 15 mins we saw vice-captain Mel Mitchell crash over after a lot of hardball carries. Unfortunately, we saw Mel and Jodie Jeffries both end the day in A&E with fibula spiral fractures so we wish both of these ladies a very quick & speedy recovery, you will both be missed massively. By half time ND were up 26-5 after 2 very strong and solo run tries from inside centre Emily Kendall, who ran the length of the pitch from a restart and after being reminded dotted the ball directly under the posts. With Christchurch getting a try that made our women determined to get straight back on the pitch for the second half and score, score!
Straight in we had tries from speedster Catherine Stone-Bridge and homegrown bulldozer Louisa Neale but all these were only made possible by the forwards making huge carries from the likes of Katie Porter, Emma Stone, Kate Willets and newbie Emma Saylor. A big shout goes to all the women for playing in such awful conditions and not stopping for the full 80 minutes. Forward of the back went to Louisa “Bulldozer” Neale, Back of the match Emily Kendall both put in 100% effort and showing off skills they’ve learnt at training over the past few weeks.
Leaving the final score at Christchurch 5 North Dorset Women 53
The next game is also our last home game of the season on 27th February at 2:00 pm KO VS East Dorset Dockers Women.
