Recently we have been asked, where did ‘GreenTide’ come from? Back in the mid naughties, we had an unofficial website called, the greentide run by Jez Drake. We think this was before our official site was born. Therefore, if you wanted the latest news from your favourite rugby club, you had to check out the GreenTide. The Greentide website closed around 2008, when our official site was launched.
We Caught up with Jez; this is the story of The GreenTides origins “I said it during a 2nd XV team talk down at Weymouth. Their captain had screamed “we’re not here to lose to a bunch of.....carrot munchers” and I said our “Green Tide would sweep through whatever field he thinks he’s in, destroying anything in its path”. I am amazed - and happy - to see that it has stuck! Love it”
Since then, GreenTide has been used on our social media channels. March 29th 2011, was the date of the clubs first tweet, the hashtag #Greentide wasn’t used.

The first tweet using the hashtag #Greentide was 26th August 2013

Our facebook page started in Feburary 2009, first post January 2010.

The hashtage Greentide Was first used in 2013

Start of the 2017/18 season, the club decided to brand their weekly newsletter, "The GreenTide" which is delivered weekly.
